universal beauty...

there are some things the world over that people admire for their beauty... one of them is flowers. everywhere i go i see different varieties on street corners, in shop windows, or just growing in a park. and no matter where i am, i cannot help but stop and admire their beauty.

bright colors...

there is something about bright colors that shouts SPRING to me. living in florida, where the change in seasons is more subtle, i've come to love the brightening of spring. the vibrant colors that pop up as summer approaches. from leaves to flowers, the colors are all beautiful.

Landscape photos...

Michael A. Gilkey, Inc. launched it's website this past week. The site is an overview of the company's history and a demonstration of their process of landscape design. It also includes a very impressive project repertoire and an extensive plant photo database. The plant database, however, is only available to clientele of MAG, Inc. Strawberry Moon is proud to be associated with such a creative and award-winning company.

FFOM Benefit...

at this month's Florida Friends of Midwives meeting we were discussing this year's event for International Midwives Day. the purpose behind this event is to create awareness about birth choices and to help raise money for FFOM. we decided that we should do another film, as last year was very successful (last May we held a screening of "The Business of Being Born"). but which film this year? i was hoping for the french documentary called "Le Premier Cri" ... but it is highly doubtful that we will be able to get it. so the search is on. i will keep you posted.

a few shots from last year's benefit held at the Lakewood Ranch Cinemas thanks to the SFS:we plastered the town with these. :)

strawberry madness...

for me this past monday was spent in fields of ripe, juicy strawberries. there is nothing like a sun-warmed fresh, sweet strawberry. i only hope that my photos do justice to their deliciousness.

for some awesome strawberry recipes check out snip & snail or a natural nester.

all strawberries pictured were picked fresh from hunsader farms.

inspiration: one flower (part two)

just as they bloom so beautifully in their prime, it seems that there is still that sense of beauty as they die. the soft petals become even softer and more delicate than before, slightly wrinkled in appearance and limp, it seems almost graceful.
there is something about flowers... their vibrant colors, their fragrance, their implied meanings... we put them in vases, press them in books, and dry them to keep forever. we want their beauty around us always, and yet, like with all living things, they die. but interestingly enough, it is still beaufiful.
